Abraham's Family and God the Mother
The Bible was given to us, so that we can understand the will of God and receive salvation.
The Bible was given to us, so that we can understand the will of God and receive salvation.
When we read the book of Genesis, we can see the history of Abraham's family and who received his inheritance. Then, why was such a personal story as that of who became the final heir in a family written in the Bible?
- Lk 16:19~24 "There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered in sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. ... The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, 'Father Abraham...'"
Here, both the beggar and the rich man died- the former in Heaven, the latter in Hell. Then, only who can be called 'Father' in Heaven? God. However, the rich looked up to Heaven and called, Father 'Abraham'.
In other words, Abraham is not only a mere man, but represents God in the Bible. Therefore, history of Abraham's family shows history of God's family and the heir of Abraham represents the heir of God. That was why the history of Abraham's family was so thoroughly written in the bible- to show us, who can become the heir of God and receive all the inheritance of God.
If we look at the book of Genesis, there were total of three candidates who could become an heir of Abraham- Eliezer the servent, Ishmael and Isaac.
Although Eliezer was a hard-working man, he couldn't become the heir of Abraham, as he wasn't a son of Abraham(Gen 15:2-4). Instead, God said, that a son coming from Abraham's own body will become his heir. However, as Sarah was too old to have a child, she brought her maidservant, Hagar, to lay a child of Abraham. As a result, Ishmael was born. Although Ishmael was Abraham's son, God didn't allow Ishmael to become Abraham's heir(Gen 17:18-19). Instead, God promised to establish His covenant with Isaac, son of Sarah and chose Isaac to inherit all the inheritance of Abraham.
Through the history of Abraham's family and how Isaac was able to receive the promise of God to become the heir, we can understand God's will for us.
In Israel, as the firstborn sons according to the paternal line were given the birthright, Ishmael should've been the heir of Abraham. However, strangely enough, specially in Abraham's family, God chose Isaac as the heir even before his birth. This shows, that the maternal line was the decisive factor in choosing the heir for Abraham's family.
Then, if Abraham represented God the Father, whom does Sarah, wife of Abraham, represent? This allows us to realize that in order to inherit the Kingdom of God, the children of promise, we must become the children of Heavenly Mother. Then do we have Heavenly Mother?
- Gal 4:26 "But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our Mother."
The Bible clearly testifies, that we have not only God the Father, but also God the Mother in Heaven. And to become like Isaac, the child of promise, we must believe in not only God the Father, but also God the Mother.
As Isaac was able to become the heir of Abraham, thanks to his Mother, Sarah, we can receive the promise of inheriting the Kingdom of Heaven only when we become the children of Heavenly Mother. To allow us this promise, She has already come to this earth and is calling all of us to come and receive blessings of Heaven.
So let's believe in our Heavenly Mother and let's not forget Her grace of choosing us to become Her children!
