Resurrection day in the Bible and Easter

 Every spring, many churches are busy preparing for Easter. Easter is the day Jesus was resurrected after he died on the cross and the day that gave us hope for heaven. To commemorate this day, people boil eggs and color them beautifully to share with family, friends and neighbors.

 By the way, Do you know that these scenes are, in fact, the wrong Resurrection day custom not found in the Bible?

1. Wrong name of Resurrection day, 'Easter'

Many people call the Resurrection day 'Easter'. However, the name Easter is not derived from the Bible, but from the day commemorating Asdaroth, the goddess of the foreign nations! The feast of Jesus' resurrection is not 'Easter', but it must be called 'Resurrection day' to be biblical.

2. Wrong custom of 'Easter'


 Also, the custom of eating eggs for Easter! Did Jesus' disciples keep the Resurrection day by dividing and eating eggs? Never! They kept eating bread, as Jesus taught them.
The custom of eating eggs for Easter, as like its name , comes from the custom of serving a foreign goddess!

3. Resurrection day in the Bible : How to celebrate

Let us find out the example Jesus gave us on how to commemorate Resurrection Day.

When Jesus was resurrected, the disciples who met on the road did not recognize Jesus. Jesus gave bread to open their spiritual eyes to those who lacked faith.

(Luke 24:15-31) As they talked and discussed these things, Jesus himself suddenly came and began walking with them. But God kept them from recognizing him...Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. … As they sat down to eat, he took the bread and blessed it. Then he broke it and gave it to them. Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him.
Even after that, the apostles ate the bread every Resurrection day.

(Act 20:7-8) And upon the first day of the week(the Resurrection day), when the disciples came together to break bread...

4. Resurrection day and WMSCOG


 We must celebrate Resurrection day in the Bible to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and open our spiritual eyes, not 'Easter', the day of worship of the Gentile Goddess.

Many churches keep Easter in this wrong way, but there is only one church which celebrate Resurrection day by eating bread in the way Jesus told us according to the teachings of the Bible. It is World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG)!
